Beach Trip

Two weekends ago, we took Addy on her first vacation!  Courtney's mom and dad were going to Destin to do some shopping for Christmas and we were fortunate enough to be able to join in on the fun.  We got some great deals at the outlets and ate some wonderful seafood!  Addy was an excellent traveler.  I was SO nervous that she would scream and cry in the car both ways but she slept almost the entire time!  We didn't take very many pictures because we weren't out on the beach or anything (too cold and windy!) but we did capture a few shots of Addy's First Beach Trip before we left :)

Yes, we were only going for 3 nights but it felt like we packed up almost the entire house!

Addy was ready to go!

Mia and Pop enjoyed getting to know Addy more because they got to see her morning, noon and night!

Family pic... someone forgot to tell Addy to look at the camera!

Basketball, Pizza and Family!

Addy & I had a fun day today (if you call taking naps, eating lots and watching a movie fun!) but it was topped off by a night of even more fun!  My cousin Mackenzie is a starter for the Oak Mountain JV girls basketball team and they were playing at County High this afternoon.  Courtney came home after work to stay with Addy and I headed up to the school to watch Oak Mountain run over my old alma mater... way to go Mackenzie!!  After the game, we picked up some pizzas and headed to our house where Addy got to visit with her cousins Mackenzie & Slate and her aunt & uncle, Lisa and Steve before they headed back to Birmingham.  Of course, Daddy Jim, JJ and Kayla came over to get in on the fun too!  Spending time with family is one of my favorite things!

We are so blessed to have such wonderful families!

Busy Week!

We have had a fun, busy week!  I've been out of the house more this week which has been fun!  Monday and Tuesday I got to have lunch with some girl friends while Daddy Jim (Monday) and Mia (Tuesday) stayed with Addy.  Then on Wednesday, Mia and I loaded up Addy and drove to Bibb County to visit Addy's great-grandparents!  We had lunch with Nanny & Babby and great aunt Melanie and then that afternoon we drove over to see Grandmama and Granddaddy & great aunt Margaret!  It was a great day!  Addy was so sweet all day and took great naps in the car both ways.  She is such a good baby!  I have posted a few pictures below from our outing on Wednesday!

Addy took a nap with Aunt Melanie

Mia had fun showing off Addy to Nanny!

Grandmama thought Addy was precious!

Granddaddy was worried that we were mistreating her :)

Addy got dressed up for our visit - she has all of these cute dresses but we haven't gone out very much for her to get to wear them!  She liked her ballerina slippers on her gown today.

Her cute little booties!

Pictures of Addy

Here are a few pictures of Addy from the past month...

Sleepy time...she still does this a lot!

Bath time!  It is one of her favorites!
She LOVES getting her hair washed and her nails filed - such a girl!

Roll Tide!!

If she only knew how true this statement is...

Addy is sporting her new hairstyle!

Road Trip...

Addison was 4 weeks old yesterday!  Wow - it's hard to believe!  She is still growing and changing... she now weighs 10 lbs, 6 oz!  She doesn't like to stay all curled up like a newborn baby anymore - she is always wiggling her arms and legs and is very strong!  She "talks" a lot more now and it is so cute when she is trying to find her voice.

Yesterday, we had our first big outing.  My mom (JJ), Dad (Daddy Jim), and Kayla were going to Gadsden to visit the grandparents and so Addy and I tagged along.  I was so nervous because it is a solid two hour drive and that's further than we've ever been in the car!  She slept both times up until the last 20 minutes or so at which point she decided she was hot and did not want to be held captive in the car seat any more!  Needless to say, the last 20 minutes were pretty loud in our car but I'm just glad she didn't scream the whole time!  She got to meet lots of new people yesterday...we had a great time!  I've included some pictures below.

Happy Halloween

Addy was a flower for her first Halloween... the cutest flower I've ever seen!

Cooper & Tucker came by on Halloween to trick or treat...

Cooper was the cutest little piggy!

And Tucker was a rough and tough cowboy!

Our friend Stephanie came over this morning and took some fun pictures of Addy - she dressed up again in her flower costume and then she was a good sport to let us play with her for a few more fun pictures!

Congratulations and Prayer Request!

Our friends Ryan & Jane Alexander welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Mallory Kate, into the world on Monday.  She weighed 5lbs, 2 oz and was 18 inches long.  She is so tiny and precious!!  Say a prayer for baby Mallory and for her Mom & Dad...  She is having trouble keeping her body temperature up so they want to keep her at the hospital a little while longer.  I can't imagine how hard it must be to go home without Mallory - please pray that she will be able to regulate her temp so that Ryan & Jane can take her home soon!

Dr. Appointment

Addison did great at her doctor's appointment yesterday!  I am already dreading the 2 month visit though because she has to get so many shots next time!  She was awake and alert and seemed to be checking everything out.  She hated the heel stick at the very end but thankfully Daddy was able to hold her and it didn't last too long so she survived!

The big news from the doctor visit is how much she weighs!  She is now 21 inches long and in the 90th percentile for height and she weighs 9 lbs 7 oz and is in the 75th percentile for her weight.  I cannot believe how much she has grown in just 2 weeks!  She is starting to outgrow some of her newborn-size clothes and I think we are about to move up to size 1 diapers!

After the doctor visit, Addy fell asleep in the car on our way to Birmingham for pictures.  We went to Precious Memories in Hoover and had several pictures of her made so we can remember how little (or big!) she was as a newborn... I cannot wait to see them!  Poor Addy kept trying to fall asleep during the pictures and every time she got comfy, we would have to move her or change positions so she never was able to get her nap in yesterday afternoon.  Thankfully, she fell asleep again in the car on the way home!  We had a busy day and we were all tired last night!

Big Day!

Addy is 2 weeks old today - time is flying by!  She has grown SO much in just two weeks!  It is amazing to see how much she changes each day.  She is focusing her eyes more on your eyes now - instead of looking at Courtney's hair, she looks at his eyes :)  She follows Mommy's voice around the room with her eyes.  She definitely knows who Mommy & Daddy are!  She "talks" to us sometimes - making sweet little cooing noises - I love it!

We have a really big day planned for today and I am a little nervous about how we are going to pull it off.  I hope we don't overwhelm Addy too much because we need her to be cooperative!  We are going to the doctor this afternoon and will find out exactly how much she has grown at her two week checkup.  Then, we are going to try to head to Birmingham right after the doctor's appointment to have Addy's newborn pictures made.  I would not have chosen to schedule all of this in one day but the photographer could only do it today or November 17th and if we want pictures of her while she is a newborn, it had to be today!  I just hope that she is able to take some naps and eat on schedule so that we don't have multiple meltdowns this afternoon - cause if Addy melts down, it is very likely that Courtney or I might melt down too!

I will try to post pictures soon!

One Week Already!

I can't believe Addy is a week old today!  Wow... time has flown by!  She is changing and growing every day!  We had her weight checked on Monday to make sure she was getting enough to eat and she had already gained back to her birth weight plus an ounce!  Her cheeks keep getting chubbier every day.  She is more alert every day and has stretched out her eating/napping schedule already.

She is Daddy's little buddy.  Yesterday he got her ready for us to go strolling around the neighborhood and we had so much fun getting outside for a little while.  His favorite nicknames for her so far are Butterbean and Tatertot.  She loves looking at Daddy - actually, we think she is staring at his hair!  She sleeps with her hands above her head, just like Daddy.

We  love her so much and are enjoying every moment with her - and saying lots of thank you prayers that God has blessed us so much!  Here are a few pictures...

Dr. Appt Update

No major changes at the doctor yesterday... we are still on schedule for next Wednesday, October 7th if Addy doesn't come on her own by then. We go to see her on ultrasound and she looks like she has chubby little cheeks still! They estimated her to be 7 lbs, 7 oz and said it could vary by as much as 1 lb. We can't wait for her to get here now! They did a non stress test to watch her heartrate for 20 minutes on the monitor and everything looked good! Now we just have to wait!

Addison's Arrival Date...

We went to the doctor today... Courtney came with me because it was a big day! We decided to induce on October 7th if she hasn't made her debut by then. It is nice having an "end date" in sight for this pregnancy (or a "beginning date" for Addy!) but I really just hope that she will come on her own before October 7th.

Dr. Emig estimated her to be about 7 lbs if she were to be born today. I am still measuring 1 week behind - I am 39 weeks and measured 38 weeks. But, I got really excited because I am 1 cm dilated! Just 9 more to go :) We go back to the doctor next Tuesday to check on Addy - I will get to have an ultrasound to make sure everything is looking good with her so I will update again after that!

Not so Lately...

Okay Heath, this is for you! I haven't updated in way too long... a lot has happened since July 15th! Here are a few highlights...

  • Addy has been growing a lot. The doctor estimated her to be about 5 1/2 lbs at my appointment last Monday. I am down to the weekly appointments now... so that means the end of this pregnancy is getting closer! She is very active and has her "routine" of when she normally moves each day. I wonder if she will stick to this routine after she gets here? I kind of hope not because when I get up to go to the bathroom at night she is always awake! Not a good sign!!
  • Courtney and I celebrated our 4th anniversary on July 23rd! We went to Ross Bridge and spent the night and had a very nice dinner out at Veranda on Highland in Birmingham.
  • We have been showered with gifts galore! We are so thankful for our wonderful friends and family that have been so generous and helped get us set up with everything we need to welcome this new baby girl into our family!
  • Uncle Kyle came home from England this week and brought with him Addy's own Paddington Bear. It is so cute!
  • Addy's room is just about complete! Courtney worked so hard on painting, crown molding, assembling furniture and adding a shelf to the closet. We have a few more things to assemble and install and we will be ready for this baby to arrive!
  • On a sad note, Granddaddy (about to be great-Granddaddy!) Wright had a horrible accident recently when he fell off his horse. He has been in the hospital at UAB for over a month now and needless to say, that has turned life upside down for my mom, Lynne, Lisa & Grandmother as well as the rest of the family. We are still praying for his recovery!

Here are a few pictures of what we have been up to the past month and a half...

Shower/Cookout at Heath & LeAnn's with our friends on July 26th

Sunday School Class Shower on August 1 - isn't LeAnn's cake cute?
It even matches the invitation!

I know it looks like Courtney is getting an early start with the dirty diapers... this was a funny game Jennifer Morgan introduced us to called "What Did This Baby Eat?" where you try to figure out what kind of candy is mushed up inside the diaper... gross, but funny!!

This is all of Addy's loot from the shower hosted by Courtney, Jennifer, Rachel, Amy & Leah on August 15th! She got so many cute things!

WRS Shower on August 18th -
Pam & I were posing with the Miracle Blanket that she says is a must-have item!

Girls' Night in Birmingham - Courtney went rafting with the guys from church so I headed to Birmingham to meet up with Courtney and Jennifer at the Melting Pot and Ross Bridge for some relaxation!
