Friends!

This summer, we have done lots of fun activities with friends.  It is fun for Addy to have friends... last summer, she was still in the 'baby' phase and couldn't play or interact very well with other kids her age.

A few Fridays ago, we met Riley & Rachel at the Barnyard and the girls had a great time!

You see how interested Addy is in this goat she is feeding... I have about 5 pictures of her and she is only watching the goat in one of them!

Riding the pony... the highlight of the morning!

Riley's turn... she wasn't sure at first but then she was smiling!

Feeding the pig... again, why is she not paying attention to what she's doing?

They are all into hugs!
Playing at the Verner playground one hot day!

We had our old neighbors, Greg & Kelli & Brody over for dinner a week or so ago.  Brody and Addy were sweet playing together... he was so funny picking out a new bow for Addy to wear!  I caught her trying to pin a bow in his hair once!

Sweet hugs!!
This morning, we met up with Marichase & Brooklyn, two of Addy's friends from church.  They played well together and had fun in the pool, the playhouse and attempting to drive the Barbie jeep before it got too hot!  Addy wasn't a fan of the Jeep though... she bailed out quickly and I didn't get any pictures!  These aren't as good because they are from my phone!

Marichase's little playhouse was TOO cute!

Book Worm

We have really enjoyed our summer.  One of the things that we like to do every week or at least every other is to go to the library.  Addy likes to go "pick books" and we have been to storytime at the library a few times this summer.  It is cute - they sing a few little songs, read a book and the big finale is a bubble machine at the end that blows bubbles all over the "story castle!"  We usually see a few of our friends at storytime... Brody, Marian and our new friend Anna Riley.  I had my camera one day when Marian was there with Addy...this was during the bubbles at the end!

4th of July - Part II

On Monday, we picked up KK and headed over to Mia & Pop's house that morning to swim.  We missed JJ & Daddy Jim... they had to go to Gadsden for the week.  We started off on the wrong foot by getting sunscreen in Addy's eye so she was not a big fan of the pool that day!  We all had fun anyway and ate a fun lunch of BBQ sliders, slaw, fruit and some YUMMY cake balls that KK & Hannah made that were decorated red and white and so festive!  I wish I had taken a picture of the cute food table!

The most fun thing Addy found was pouring a bottle of water on Courtney's head!
We headed home for tired Addy to take a nap and KK and I had a redneck style 4th of July laying out in the backyard and the baby pool!  Ha ha!  I'm glad we don't have any pictures of that!

After the huge monsoon that afternoon, we went over to Curtis & Jennifer's house for a cookout with some of our church friends. We ate way too much (again!) and headed outside for some backyard fireworks... but quickly learned that Addy is terrified of fireworks when they are right next to her! She got really upset but after she calmed down, she enjoyed watching the sparklers and the big fireworks from a distance (unless they got too close or unless Heath was holding her!). We had a great time with good friends!

Garrett was showing off his skills with the popper things you throw on the ground.  He was too cute!!

Jennifer broke out the sidewalk chalk and bubbles for the kiddos

Tucker was trying out the bubbles

Carla drew a beautiful American flag!

Jennifer passed out sparklers to everyone and there was so much smoke, you couldn't see to walk around!

4th of July Festivities - Part I

We did lots of celebrating this past weekend for the 4th... some with friends and some with family!  I have too many pictures to put them all on one post but here are a few from Sunday.  We drove down to Moundville to Tucker & Talon's Pappaw's house on the river and met up with a few familiar faces and some new ones too!  Addy wasn't too sure about the river at first (and neither was I!  I'd rather be able to see what's under the water when I go swimming!) but she did end up getting in for a while.  There was a big baby pool that several of the kids had fun swimming in and we took Addy's wagon so it made a few laps around the big yard.  We had delicious hamburgers & hotdogs and several fun 4th of July desserts!  Addy was worn out by the time we made it back home that night... we had to leave before the homemade ice cream and fireworks but we made up for it the next day!

Cooper and Addy were posing - not sure why Addy is bending down?!

Take two...

Addy wanted to drive Tucker's John Deere but she was too little

Talon was observing all the bigger girls running around!

Addy wanted to try out Talon's special seat!

Bye hugs!

Swim Date!

We had a play/swim date with Courtney, Tucker & Talon last Friday.  Cooper and Jennifer were supposed to come but they had something come up... we missed them!  Tucker is quite the swimmer... I was so impressed with his skills!  When he got there, he told us he could do "superman arms" and he showed us how he swims under the water!  He even had to rescue Addy once ;)  Here are a few of the pictures I took...  we had a fun morning and Mia cooked us all a yummy lunch!  Thanks Mia!

Mia held Talon and tried to keep him cooled off!

Tucker & Addy had fun playing at the water table.

Tucker swam out to pull Addy's float back to the side!

Tucker - he looks so old here!

This is my new favorite picture of our 21 month old girl! We had to go to the doctor this morning for a little check on her eye (they think she has pink eye... yuck!) and she officially weighs 26 1/2 lbs. I don't think she's gained much weight since her last doctor appointment but she sure feels heavier!

Addy has been making us laugh a lot lately...

She talks to Julie (her baby doll) like she is a real person. For instance, when we first got down to the beach earlier this month, she took Julie over to the window and faced her outside toward the beach and said "whatcha think Julie?" We have heard her tell Julie to "come here," "be patient," and "sit still!"  Just now when I asked if Addy wanted some goldfish for a snack she got one and "fed" it to Julie and said "Julie likes 'em!"

We were in the grocery store the other day and we kept finding ourselves on the same aisle as this older lady... you know how you keep bumping into the same person in the grocery store sometimes? Addy has a tendency to stare at people until they notice her and so each time, she would give this lady the stare down but the lady never acknowledged us. She did not look very happy at all and finally, when we had passed her about the 5th time, Addy looked at me and said "funny looking!" I was too embarrassed to turn around and see whether there was something else "funny looking" behind us or if it was that lady again!  I know there will be many embarrassing moments in our future when Addy decides to announce things in public!

She pays attention to everything we say and then sometimes brings it back up later... I guess she always hears me say that she's "20 months" when someone asks how old she is. Recently, she was playing with Julie and I heard her saying "20 months" and I asked her how old Julie was and she said "20 months!" Ha ha! Courtney likes to joke that Julie is small for her age because she has been dropped several times!

We were eating lunch out on Father's Day and the waiter was trying to get Addy to tell him her name and she finally told him her name was Addy, then patted my arm and said "this is Mommy."  Thanks for the introduction!  Ha ha!
This month we have had fun in the backyard with the baby pool, slide and sprinkler.  Here, Addy is figuring out how to control the water hose!

She always wakes up with funny hair!
Her new favorite activity is coloring.  In the afternoon she will say "wanna color" and this keeps her occupied for quite a while somedays.  She likes to lay on the floor and color!  We had to have a lesson about coloring only on the paper one day after I found brown crayon marks on the windowsill!

We have missed Maw Maw this summer!  She had to come visit Addy last weekend and Courtney and I went to dinner and a movie... what a treat!  Addy has been kind of clingy since I've been home this summer but when Maw Maw came to stay with her that night, she waved bye to us before we were even ready to go out the door!  I think Addy was glad to spend some time with MawMaw!

JJ & Daddy Jim got a fun sprinkler at their house and we went over one day last week to play outside and eat supper.  KK wasn't afraid of getting soaked so she and Addy had fun playing in the water!

Ready to go to church to see Mrs. Glenda and Ms. Kristy (her Sunday School teachers)!

I have a video of her singing Jesus Loves Me and Wheels On the Bus... maybe I can get it to load later!
