Here are a few recent pictures...

Trying out the sippy cup...

Last week it was kinda warm outside and a few days when we strolled around the neighborhood, we felt like Addy got hot and could use some water!  We tried to offer it to her in a sippy cup just to see if she could learn how to drink from a cup instead of her bottle but she couldn't quite figure it out.  We will keep trying but we have several more months before we have to do away with the bottle!

Sleeping like a baby...
Addy & Courtney went for a stroll around the neighborhood... apparently it was too much work for Addy!  In this picture she is fast asleep while sitting up in the stroller.

She is such a little lady posing in our yard last Sunday in her dress Susan made...

Watch out!

Okay, so we have to babyproof our house... and soon!  This weekend, I was sitting on the floor in our bedroom looking through a drawer and Addy was sitting on the floor in front of me and before I knew it, she pulled herself up to a standing position so she could see over into the drawer!  This was a first for her!  My first thought was how proud I was of her and my next thought was, "oh no!"

She is really getting mobile... she no longer stays where you put her to play on the floor.  She will scoot around, roll around, and now she can crawl backward!  I'm guessing she will figure out how to go forward before too long!   Just in the last week or two she has gotten much better at sitting up unsupported.

We had a fun weekend... Saturday we helped celebrate Colton's 2nd Birthday.  His party was so much fun!  Then Addy stayed with Mia & Pop while Courtney and I had a date!  We saw Date Night at the movies... it was pretty funny!!  Sunday after church we took Addy to Taco Casa for lunch and then later that afternoon we visited Matt, Mary-Virginia and Baby Marian.  It was so fun to hold a newborn baby and think about how just 6 months ago, Addy was that size!  Everyone told us how quickly time would fly but I think it's impossible to realize what they mean until you experience it yourself.  I wish life had a rewind and pause button so I could take time to appreciate everything the way that I should!

R&R

Tax season is over!!!  Both mine and Courtney's offices were closed on Friday, April 16th but Courtney decided to take off work today and Tuesday so that he could see us, catch up on rest and get some things done around the house that we have been putting off until "after tax season."  Courtney didn't have to twist my arm too much to get me to stay home too!  We had a nice day of rest and relaxation yesterday and today we are hoping to get some things cleaned up and cleaned out!

On Saturday, Courtney & Addy got to spend some quality time together.  I was helping with a shower in Birmingham for our friend Jennifer who is getting married in less than a month!  We will be traveling to Monroeville for the wedding and I think we are going to leave Addy here (yikes!).  We haven't spent the night away from her yet and I am thinking we might need to have a practice run before we are 3 hours away from her overnight!

We have enjoyed having Courtney home with us over the weekend and have grilled out, gone to the gym (Courtney), taken some walks around the neighborhood and had lots of playtime.  Now that tax season is over with, we have our Saturdays back!

6 Months Old!

Addy’s 6 month old birthday was the same day as Daddy Jim’s birthday… April 7th. I cannot believe she is halfway to a year already!

She had her 6 month checkup on Tuesday and she weighs 16 lbs, 9 oz. She is 26 inches long. She is in the 50 – 75th percentile on height and weight.

She is wearing 6 – 9 month clothes and size 2 diapers, although we are about to move up to the next size!

She has tried the following baby food: applesauce, pears, peaches, bananas, sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, prunes, peas, rice cereal, oatmeal. She is having milk & cereal & fruit for breakfast, milk/fruit/veggie for lunch, an afternoon bottle, and milk/fruit/veggie/cereal for supper. Meat is on the list of approved foods from the doctor but when I was buying baby food at the grocery store last night, I just couldn’t bring myself to purchase pureed chicken or beef… it grosses me out! I don’t intend for Addy to be a vegetarian though so I guess I will have to get over my food issues so I don’t cause her to have issues!

Addy’s favorite sound right now is “da da” which makes Courtney very happy! I think I heard her say “ma ma” once today (for the first time) but it was in the middle of crying! She still says “ba ba” a lot and “la la”.

My favorite!

Visit with Kyle & Di

Friday night we had a delicious dinner at Mia & Pop’s house. We enjoyed getting to spend some more time with Kyle & Di before they had back to the UK for the rest of the school year. Addy sat in the highchair while we all ate around the dining room table. After our dinner, we fed Addy (peas & pears) and everyone watched while she ate!   For some reason, everything she does is so interesting even if it’s just eating baby food!

Daddy Jim's Birthday

We ate at Cypress Inn Thursday night to celebrate Daddy Jim’s 58th birthday. Then we went back to Mom & Dad’s to have dessert and let Daddy Jim open a few birthday presents. We enjoyed spending time with our family!
Birthday buddies... Dad's 58th and Addy's 1/2 :)

Here Comes Peter Cottontail

The Easter bunny came to our house this year… he brought Addy books, bubbles, a beach towel and a bathing suit... and some bunny ears! Looks like we had a “B” theme to our Basket this time! Her favorite thing about the whole gift was the Bow!!

Easter!

We had a GREAT Easter!  Mia & Pop invited everyone to their house for lunch on Easter Sunday after church.  We had ham, macaroni & cheese, green bean bundles, sweet potato casserole, grape salad, vegetable casserole, rolls and caramel cake, lemon cookies and oreo dessert!  Needless to say, we enjoyed all the good food!

We also enjoyed getting to know Kyle's girlfriend Di who was here to visit.  She is in school at Oxford with Kyle and they came to the U.S. for a mooting competition and extended their stay to enjoy some time in Alabama.  Di is from Australia so we asked her a million questions about the Outback :)  She was lots of fun and we are so glad that we got to meet her and get to know her!  And she has learned a lot about Alabama football from Kyle... we were so impressed with her knowledge of our team!

After we enjoyed all the good food at lunch we took Easter pictures outside and then we had an Easter egg hunt!  Kyle, Di, Kayla, Courtney, Addy & I hunted for Easter eggs with special prizes inside... Kyle found the "golden egg" with a $20 bill inside!  I think he was disappointed that it was USD instead of British pounds!

I can't blog about Easter without reflecting on the reason we even have this special holiday...  we remember the sacrifice that Jesus made when he died on the cross for our sins so that we could have a relationship with God and on Easter we celebrate his resurrection.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  Romans 3:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Romans 6:23

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from he dead, you will be saved.  Romans 10:9
