Splish Splash

At the beginning of August, Addy & I drove to Birmingham one day to visit my aunt Lisa and cousins Erin (& Nico), Mackenzie & Slate.  We had so much fun visiting and I'm so glad Lisa emailed me these pictures!  While we were there, Addy and Slate were playing hide and seek.  (Mostly Slate would hide and Addy would try to find him.)  He pretended to be in the air vent that was in the floor (but he was really under the bed).  Addy still goes up to the air vents and says "Slate in there?"

Erin & I are the same age and we were thick as thieves growing up. We have been known to do some silly things like taking our own glamour shots pictures when those were in style but the thing I remember most vividly was making Care Bear "costumes" out of poster board for our very own musical! We made our parents and grandparents pay to come watch us! We used to stay for a week at my grandparents house in the summer (and I'm sure we drove them crazy!) but the highlight of the week was going to Noccalula Falls (and getting ice cream at Jack's!). We loved swimming in the lake at my grandparents' and we made up new words to that song, Splish Splash I Was Taking a Bath. I told Erin, so many times when I am giving Addy a bath I start singing our old version of that song! Ha ha!

Addy loved Mackenzie's bear and she loved playing with Slate!

It was so hot!!  Erin, Addy and I (and I think that's Slate at the end?)

McWane Center

I am playing catch up!  Sometime in July (I think!) we went to the McWane Center with our friends Rachel & Riley.  We got to ride together which was fun for us all, except on the way home when we thought they would nap but they kept each other awake!  We heard lots of giggles coming from the back seat!  We might not go back to the McWane Center for a little while because most of the stuff was for older kids but we still found several fun things to do!

Granddaddy's Birthday

I missed posting these pictures from July and just found them.  Courtney's granddaddy celebrated his 89th birthday and we drove to Brent for cake and ice cream one Sunday afternoon.  His granddaddy fought in World War II and although his memory may not be as sharp as it once was, he has a host of stories he could tell.  He and Courtney's grandmother wrote letters back and forth all during the war.  I can't imagine living in a time like that!

Addy was curious about Baby Sophie

I have tried to take a picture of Addy with Granddaddy every time we have visited them.  These aren't all of them but I think it's fun to see how she has grown!

22 Months?

How did my baby get to be "almost 2?"  I LOVE this age... she is so much fun!  Although we definitely have our share of meltdowns sprinkled throughout our day, it is fun to see her little personality coming out.  I am writing these down for my benefit so feel free to scan the pictures if you don't feel like reading the book!

She still narrates a lot of what we are doing and now she is into giving instructions or making requests.  We are working on adding "please" and "thank you" along with "ma'am" and "sir" to our regular vocabulary.  "Please" is her go-to word whenever she is supposed to be polite.  If you ask her what the magic words are, she still says "Meeska Mooska Mickey Mouse!" (from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse)  She wants to do everything "by self" (by myself) and if you help her out and she didn't want you to, she will go back and redo it so she can do it by herself.  Where does she get that stubborn streak?

Here are a few things we hear all the time:  Watch dis Daddy, Watch dis Mommy, I'm so big, I want some ____ (cookies, milk, etc.), I waked up (when you go get her up from a nap), Go for Stroll, Push Julie.  We are always laughing at the things she says and my new favorite is this:  I think I already mentioned that she got sick when we were at the beach and she ran a fever for several days and had to get used to us taking her temperature.  After a while, she started telling us that her temperature was "nine pointy nine!"

I feel like she must be hitting a growth spurt because she has been eating everything in sight for the last 2 days and she seems to be taller and thinner.  She still weighs about the same according to our scientific at home weight!  She LOVES sweets - she would eat cookies all day long if we let her.  But who wouldn't??

This month, we have had lots of fun activities with friends.  Addy likes playing with other children and loves holding hands and giving hugs.  She needs a little work in the "sharing" department as we have recently discovered.  We have been to the library several times to pick out books and movies - Addy loves going to the library and she always finds a friend when we are there... usually an older girl that she likes to "show" books and mimic.  Sometimes, her new friend will read her a book!

This month we went to the beach with Courtney's family and the next week, I went to Colorado and left Addy & Courtney behind in Alabama.  Courtney taught Addy that Mommy was in "Codowado" and that I flew on an airplane and that I would be home not today, not tomorrow, "but the next day."

Addy loves to pretend.  She talks on the phone, cooks "beh fust" and feeds Julie, puts Julie to sleep, reads to Julie... notice how many of the activities involve Julie!  She still likes coloring and reading books too!

Some of her favorite songs/rhymes are Jesus Loves Me, Old McDonald, Wheels on the Bus, and 5 Little Monkeys.  She knows parts of the ABC song because I always sing it to her when we wash our hands but she can't sing the whole thing and some of her letters don't sound quite right!
Mallory & Addy

She is still very much a mommy's girl but she has become a little bit more interested in her Daddy lately which is exciting for him!

Pool Party

After we got back from the beach, we got to "crash" the O2 Ministries softball team pool party.  Courtney didn't play softball this year but since he is involved with O2 planning, Heath was nice enough to invite us :)  We haven't ever taken Addy to the Rec Center pool and it was SO much fun!  I think this was the turn around point for her liking the pool instead of just tolerating it!  She saw how much fun everyone else was having and decided she could have fun too!  Courtney and I even got to go down the big slide!

Heath, this picture is for you...

They have the best baby pool!  Addy had fun with the fountains of water!

CHOM

Last Tuesday, we met Riley & Rachel to play at CHOM for a little while.  Our summer membership at CHOM has really been worth it!  Addy loves to go play there and it's nice and air conditioned!  I feel like I have posted CHOM pictures 15 times this summer!

Addy fixed me an ice cream sundae while we were waiting on Riley to get there!

The nursery at the hospital is her favorite part

...and then Addy's heartbeat!

They love to hold hands!

Colorado - Part I

I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to Denver for my cousin Jordan's wedding.  I flew out with Mom, Dad and Kayla and then they stayed on a few days after the wedding but I came on back home since I left Courtney and Addy behind!  I have so many pictures to post but I'm trying to figure out a way for them not to take up so much space.  I will just post the wedding ones for now because I know that's what my family would most like to see!

Jordan & Keithon were married at a beautiful golf course outside of Denver and they put so much thought into planning their wedding - it was a very special ceremony!  I was so glad to be in attendance!!  We wish Jordan & Keithon the best!

The newlyweds left in a car decorated by the wedding party and they had written this scripture reference on the window "Ephesians 4:16."  I had to come home and look it up.  What a fitting verse:  He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Sandestin with the LeCroys!

I am WAY behind on what we've been doing lately... I need to catch up over the next week!  We have been on the go and I don't want to forget all the fun we are having this summer!

Two weeks ago, Courtney's brother Kyle was home from England for a week-long visit.  We all got to visit the beach together while he was here and had a great time!  Addy got sick while we were there which slightly dampened our fun but she was really a trooper and it was SO nice to have Mia & Pop to help take turns and entertain Addy - I don't even think she realized that she was missing out on the fun of going to play in the sand or the pool.

Playing at the baby pool with Mia & Mommy while the guys played golf

She was having fun jumping off the side... this was right before she got sick at the pool!  UH OH!

Pop & Kyle were helping her color on the balcony

I'm not sure who is learning more here... Addy or Kyle :)

Group picture!

Why is it impossible to get a picture where all three of us are looking at the camera?

Mia & Pop - I thought this was a good picture!

The last night, we all ate dinner out and then we took Addy to ride the "carrot-self" at Baytowne Wharf.  She picked the reindeer all by herself :)
My favorite thing from the whole trip was that Addy said "Combo" instead of "Condo!"
