Easter 2011

We had a wonderful day celebrating Easter with all of our immediate family (except Kyle - we missed you!).  We had lunch at JJ & Daddy Jim's house and spent all afternoon over there... they say pictures are worth 1,000 words so I will let them tell the story!

p.s. I tried to make these into a slideshow or a photo collage since there are so many from this post and the zoo but I didn't have any luck.  If anyone has any tips on an easy way to do this, I would love to know!

The Easter Bunny came to our house...

Her favorite thing was this drum and all the instruments inside!

Mia helped her get into some Easter goodies before lunch!
LeCroy Easter color 2011:  Yellow :)

Addy LOVES her KK!

Here Comes Peter Cottontail...

On Saturday before Easter, one of Addy's friends from Sunday School had an Easter egg hunt at his house!  We were so glad Weston & his mom and dad organized a fun egg hunt... the kids had lots of fun "hunting" which I should mention did not involve much of a hunt!  Courtney got to hide the eggs which consisted of dropping them on the grass and near the flowers in very obvious places!

Looks like they were conspiring... I think Courtney told Addy where all the eggs were hiding!

Me & Addy

Weston, Addi Belle & Addy were eating some snacks while the moms enjoyed taking a break!

Cole & Addy took a ride around the yard in the wagon

Addy got some cute bunny glasses at the egg hunt!

Oh What a Mess!

I thought it would be fun to dye Easter eggs this year.  I knew Addy was a little young for it and I figured we would end up doing damage control and dyeing them ourselves... I just didn't expect Addy to dump out the cups and dye before we even got started!  Ha ha!  We were letting her stand in a chair to see what it was all about and while both of us were standing right there she managed to dump a cup upside down and knock another one over in the process... so after that, one of us held her hands while the other one dyed the eggs!  Not quite... we did let her assist but we were very careful!  We didn't take any pictures of the finished product because they weren't really picture-worthy.  But we did have fun!

Getting started...

See where her little hand is?  Sneaky!

CAREFUL!

Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

We took Addy to the zoo last Tuesday and had SO much fun!  She was amazed at all the animals and how big they were... we had lots of WOW moments when she saw a new animal!  The weather was perfect (and Tuesdays are half price day which made it even better!).  They had a new Africa exhibit that was neat.  I am normally not a zoo person (my most vivid memory of the zoo when I was little is getting pooped on by a pigeon!) but I can't wait to go back!

They had 2 big elephants...

Addy & Courtney were checking out the lions

We saw this face a lot!

Addy rode in the stroller, walked and rode on her Daddy's shoulders!

Pink flamingos... or 'mingos' to Addy

I think she is much cuter than the real gorillas!

He is too!

Petting these animals... is that a sheep?  It's horrible but I really don't know what these were?

Perfect sized seat for Addy to take a little break...

Peeking through the fence to try to see the llama

Riding the carousel... she rode it twice!

Down on the Farm...

The weekend before Easter, we drove to Centreville after Sunday lunch with Mia & Pop to visit Courtney's grandparents.  Addy was excited to see the moo moo's - she remembered they were there from the last time we visited in March.  We got to see Nanny, Babby, Grandmother, Granddaddy, Margaret & Johnny.  It was a good day!  I didn't take many pictures...

Trying to sneak up close to one of the BIG cows in the pasture.

Barnyard

A few weeks ago we went to the Barnyard with some friends from church... it was SO much fun!  Addy loves animals (she definitely does not get that from me!) and although she was a little timid while we were there that day, she still talks about riding the pony so I think it made an impression on her!  It was so much fun to see all of our friends' kids too because when we are at church, the kids are usually off in their own little class and so we don't get to see them as often as I would like!

Addy wanted to get up close and personal with this ugly turkey!

Looking for eggs in the hen house!

Feeding the goats... notice who is having to hold the feed bucket!  Those goats were a little too enthusiastic for Addy's liking!

Can you see that WOW face?

Tucker was all about the Barnyard of course!

Ty loved petting the baby animals!

Mrs. Kami had to help Addy pet this baby duck... she wasn't too sure at first!

This was my favorite part... feeding the little pigs with a bottle!

We were glad Tiffany, Jake & Collins got to come!

Big smile!  Tucker riding the pony...

Look at how little the pony was! I look like a giant!

Birthday Breakfast

For my Dad's birthday we met my parents and Kayla at Cracker Barrel one Saturday to eat breakfast!

We had fun and Addy loved the triangle/golf tee game... we thought about buying one to take with us to other restaurants!

This little rocking chair was just the right size!

18 Months!

Addy is 18 months old!  Here are the things I want to remember about her at this age:

  • Eats w/ fork/spoon on her own (sometimes)
  • LOVES her baby doll, Julie. It's funny to see her do stuff with Julie that we do with her, for instance, she sat Julie on the little potty in her bathroom the other day and squatted down to talk to Julie!  Sometimes, she even makes Julie do sign language for "More" if they are doing something Julie likes! Ha ha!
  • Doesn’t like to ride in stroller in stores anymore – wants to get out and run around!
  • Putting 2 – 3 words together a good bit... back inside, pick up Addy, hold you, more _____, hi Daddy/Mommy, etc.
  • Still repeats EVERYTHING and is a little copy cat - she wants to try to do whatever we are doing
  • Always wants to “help” you and if you ignore her, she will say "helping" over and over, louder and louder until you acknowledge her!
  • SO friendly (almost embarrassing) when we are at the grocery store or a restaurant... she wants to wave, say hi and blow kisses to anyone and everyone... but when we are at church or around people we actually know, she gets quiet and doesn't say much until she warms up!
  • Loves to play outside - constantly asks to go outside!
  • Favorite toys: bubbles, pink car, ball (outside); kitchen, stroller, Julie (inside)
  • Not as much a fan of sitting in our lap to read books – wants to be on the go
  • Food – likes eggs, broccoli, rice, carrots, corn, roasted potatoes, black eyed peas, chick-fil-a nuggets, loves meat and sweets (not together though!)
  • Can count to 7 (when she is in the mood to!) – sounds like “one, two, free, pour, pibe, six, seben”
  • Has started saying “Goofy” instead of “gooby!” (her favorite character on Mickey Mouse clubhouse!)
  • Likes to dance to the Hot Dog Dance on Mickey!  I have tried to video this because we think it is hilarious but she always stops when I get the camera out!
I will try to post a few pictures this weekend.  We are heading to the Barnyard tomorrow with some friends from church and I think Addy is going to love seeing all the animals... I am excited!

Happy Birthday Dad!

Today is my dad's (Daddy Jim to Addy) birthday!  We are going to eat breakfast with  my family Saturday morning to celebrate and I am looking forward to it... of course, I'm glad to spend time with my family but I'm also super excited about the breakfast :)  Breakfast food is my favorite but whenever I go out for breakfast I am always in a quandary about what to order... because I'd really like one of everything!

Happy birthday to my Dad... who I have always looked up to and admired for who he is and the example that he sets, the ways that he shows Jesus' love to others, his determination to do the right thing, his dedication to taking care of my Grannie and my mom's parents, his ability to do anything around the house that needs doing and most of all, the love he shows to my mom, Kayla and I (and of course Courtney and now Addy too!)  I love you Dad!

Friendship

A few weeks ago, I got to have a girls night and it was so much fun!  Courtney (girl Courtney!) and Jennifer had been to Chuy's before but I had not... it was really good!  We had fun celebrating Courtney's birthday and laughing and catching up.  I love these two and I am thankful for their friendship!
